Welcome and thank you for checking out Muxster. In our spare-time we're working on building a new promotion platform for musicians, bands, promotors and record labels. We're still at an early stage of development but we're opening up to the public to give you a taste of what's comming.
While working at a digital marketing agency, colleagues James Constable and Andy Bright were approached by a music promotor interested in having websites developed for their act's.
From the start we got the feeling there wouldn't be a great deal of money in the project. In fact the promotor's budget was essentially zero, are we wern't exactly interested in working for nothing.
After talking to the promotor and doing some initial research into the industry we did see an opportunity which could be explored. If the promotor couldn't find the money to pay for our work then we could give them tools to build sites themselves.
Through our research we discovered that many bands already spend a great deal time and effort producing content on social network sites. Moreover some bands have fans that publish hundreds of videos, tweets and blog posts about their favourite bands.
When we then looked at custom-built official-band-sites we saw that even those of hugely popular acts were often out of date and of little promotional value.
We looked at this and thought to ourselves, why don't they build their sites with all this content they and their fans are already producing on social networks? This we when we came up with the concept of social gravity, collecting all the effort you spend maintaining other sites and bringing it into one place which you can brand and use to generate revenue through inline merchandising.
